David Harclerode Military Certificate

David Harkleroad

Enlisted August 13, 1862 from Blair County, Pa., and was mustered into the Unted States Service at Harrisburg, Pa. To serve nine months as a private under Captain William McGraw and Colonel Jacob Higgins in Company E: 125th Regt, Pa. Volunteers Infantry. The regiment was assigned to General Samuel W. Crawford's Brigade, Alpheus S. Williams' Division, of the 12th Corps, Army of the Potomac. Comrad Harkleroad shared the fortunes of his regiment in all its movements and engaged at Antietam Sept. 17, 1862. While in action at this battle he was wounded by gun shots in the thighs and abdomen and sent to hospitals at Washington and Philadelphia. He was honorably discharged May 18, 1863, expiration of term.
